Approaches to Integrated Pest Management in Orchards: Comstockaspis perniciosa (Comstock) Case Study

چکیده
Insect pests have major effects on agricultural production and food supply. Pest control in conventional crop management orchards is mainly based agrochemicals, which entails economic, health environmental costs. Other approaches, such as biological methods or products biologically active substances sex pheromones used for mating disruption, faced some implementation challenges, particularly relation to invasive insect species. The key appropriate pest identify the species understand its biology behaviour. systems should monitor, detect inform fruit growers about changes distribution, population ecology, possible damage level economic loses. Comstockaspis perniciosa (San José scale—SJS) a model example of against method integrated be adopted. This review presents case study support this statement.

Integrated pest management approach for a new pest, Lacanobia subjuncta (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), in Washington apple orchards.
Bioassays of Lacanobia subjuncta (Grote and Robinson) larvae established baseline LC50 values and identified the potential of reduced-risk, organophosphate replacement and naturally derived insecticides (eg chloronicotinyls, spinosyns, oxadiazines, insect growth regulators, microbial insecticides and particle films) to control this pest. The toxicities of these products were compared with those...

The aim of the research was analysis of rice producers’ perceptions of participatory communication in the use of integrated pest management (IPM). Research population was consisted of rice producers in the west of Mazandaran province (N=16126), whose 187 ones were selected using Cochran’s formula. Data were gathered by systematic random sampling method. The instrument for data collection was a ...

متن کاملThe Development of an Integrated Pest Management Plan for Roof Rats in Hawaiian Macadamia Orchards
Roof rats (Rattus rattus) damage an estimated 5 to 10% of the developing nut crop in Hawaiian macadamia (Macadamia integrifolia) orchards. Relevant aspects of roof rat biology in macadamia orchards have and continue to be studied with the ultimate goal of developing an ecologically sound and cost-effective integrated pest management plan. The field component of a two-year study of roof rat popu...
متن کاملEcological approaches and the development of "truly integrated" pest management.
Recent predictions of growth in human populations and food supply suggest that there will be a need to substantially increase food production in the near future. One possible approach to meeting this demand, at least in part, is the control of pests and diseases, which currently cause a 30-40% loss in available crop production. In recent years, strategies for controlling pests and diseases have...
